WEARSHERLOCK: A blog that revolves around the wardrobe and props department of the BBC show 'Sherlock', featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Mark Gatiss.
This blog showcases the clothes and props seen in the show as well as providing links as to where to buy them. We often host Sherlock related giveaways. You can check our current giveaway status here. We are not affiliated with the BBC.
It will be posted within the next hour :)
We do :) You can find it here.
It’s quite small at the moment but it’s growing all the time!
If you’re looking for cheap versions of high end brands the first and best place to look would be eBay. To find Irene’s white dress use search terms such as “fitted dress”, “knee length” and “cap sleeved” and use the search options to get better results (such as only looking for white dresses available in your size). HERE’s a super cheap option for a fiver.
Irene’s original dress came with a bolero/shrug so search for terms such as “cap sleeved bolero” or “short sleeved bolero” - it depends how screen accurate you want to be. It’s hard to find ones with buttons but you can easily grab some from a sewing shop and add them yourself as they’re purely decorative. HERE’s one for four pounds.
I’m guessing you’re from the US so it’s probably better if you search eBay yourself as you’ll know for sure then if a seller will ship to you. (I think you can just change the .co.uk to .com in the links I’ve already given you and it should take you to the US listing - fingers crossed!)
Irene’s heels are easy and cheap to replicate. I recommend buying simple black heels from a shop where you can try them on (you don’t want to end up with uncomfortable shoes that don’t fit properly if you’re going to be on your feet all day at the Convention). Grab some glossy red paint from your nearest craft store and paint the soles! You can also buy heel stickers, but they’re never guaranteed to be a perfect fit for your shoes.
Her nude stockings are known as “Cuban heels”, so see what Google can find for you. The first result that popped up when I searched are perfect, just £8 on Amazon - HERE.
As for accessories Irene’s earrings are know as “Marquise” cut. If you search eBay for “Marquise studs” there are tonnes. This US based seller has an almost identical pair to Irene’s HERE (top left, “clear” style) for $8.50 and HERE’s an almost identical ring for $30. If that’s a bit too pricey then just search for “silver pear ring” and see what cheaper options you can find. Just to be on the safe side if you’re looking for a riding crop THIS is the cheapest and most screen accurate version we’ve found to Irene’s.
Her make up is simple, just find an affordable rich red lipstick, shocking red nail varnish and neon turquoise eyeshadow/liner from any make-up counter. If you have allergies stick to a brand you know as budget make-up brands can sometimes irritate sensitive skin. Or you could treat yourself to Irene’s real make up! Check it out here in our make-up tag.
If you get stuck you can always look in our Irene tag HERE whilst you’re searching to find out more detailed information about each product.
Hope that helps! All this information and a lot more will be available soon once we open our Cosplay page :)
Thank you, so glad you like them!
We seem to have neglected Martin a little bit on this blog (which is preposterous seeing as he has such an amazing wardrobe) but that won’t be the case for much longer, our Martin tag is growing all the time!
We’ll post it for you within the hour!
We’re always looking for more Martin! We do have these posts on Martin but admittedly it’s not much. Submissions are most definitely open and very welcome!
Actually, we’ve just received some lovely Cumberbatch clothing submissions but unfortunately the person who submitted them doesn’t have their ask enabled so we can’t contact them to thank them/ask how they want to be credited on the team page. So if you would like to help us please make sure we can chat to you to at least say thank you!
Oh no, your poor mug collection!
You’ll be pleased to hear you won’t have to wait much longer.. we’ll be opening the mug store tomorrow! Shipping to the states will be approximately $7. Hope that helps! ;)
Ooh very clever! Very clever indeed…
We’ll definitely take that into consideration! Thank you for the suggestion!
We will make an announcement when the store opens which will have all the information you need :) Shouldn’t be long now, we just want to make sure everything is perfect!
Our only recommendation for your mugs is to make sure that Sherlock doesn’t tamper with your sugar beforehand. You can’t be too careful.
Of course! We’ll add in a little more information too as we’re getting quite a lot of asks along the lines of “What on Earth are the striped mugs?!”
That’s great to hear! <3
It’s quite surprising actually, but you’re one of the first people to let us know how much you like the #ramc design (which is the actual design used by John in the show) as since we posted those photos it’s been the Periodic Table mug that has been getting all the love and attention and ‘shut up and take my money’ tweets!
It appears the Sherlock fandom are a lot geekier than previously thought! ;)
It’s funny actually we were thinking about doing that! Would anyone actually be interested in a recreation of those famous set mugs though? The design would have to incorporate the masking tape “Benedict” and “Martin” labels, of course!
Please like this post if you’re interested! It’s very achievable and we’d love to make it happen if there is interest!
We do indeed :) It’s Russell Hobbs.
We have a post on Sherlock’s kettle here. Hope that helps!
Hi there :)
Moriarty’s coat was made by The Kooples and unfortunately it’s not longer available to buy but you can see our post on it here. Hope that helps!
