WEARSHERLOCK: A blog that focuses on the wardrobe and props department of the BBC show 'Sherlock', starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Mark Gatiss.
This blog showcases the clothes and props seen in the show as well as providing links as to where to buy them. We often host giveaways and you can check our current giveaway status here. We also sell high quality Sherlock shirts and mugs!
100% UNOFFICIAL - Not affiliated with the BBC.
For 48 hours Wear Sherlock will be gratefully accepting PayPal donations to help us with future giveaway costs and to contribute towards travel to the Sherlockian events/conventions we will be attending/hosting in the coming year.
This is something we’ve never asked before but seeing as it’s our 2nd birthday (and we have a big giveaway in the works) we hope you’ll be able to spare 50p/50c (or anything really) so we can continue to keep the blog going strong during Sherlock Series Three. If you can’t donate but want to help, reblogging this post will be extremely helpful.
The donation link is now closed. Thank you so much to everyone who donated, it’s been a tremendous help!
- Caz, Wear Sherlock’s founder

So it’s been two years since Wear Sherlock made its first post and to celebrate we’ve created a time line of everything (big) that has happened on this blog or that we’ve been involved in over the last 24 months.
The article talks in depth about the events we’ve attended, costume contests we’ve hosted, prizes we’ve given out and so much more. It’s been an exciting two years and we’ve met and made friends with so many amazing people along the way so THANK YOU to everyone who helps us, even if it’s just by being a follower - we love you all.
Today we hit 13,000 Tumblr followers! So, to celebrate we’re giving away three Sherlock mugs from our mug store! The winners will be able to choose which design they would like and their mug will be sent to them completely free of charge. We will ship to anywhere on the planet!
THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!
As always you can buy the mugs for £10/$13 here. There will also be chances to win our mugs at this year’s 221b Con and areyoutryingtodeduceme's Sherlock tea party raffle! Please note our designs are recreations of those seen in the show and are 100% unofficial.
Our recreation of the Project H.O.U.N.D design seen in Sherlock series 2 is now available on a mug at our store! Please note that the resolution of the design seen on the preview mugs at the shop is much lower than the print you’ll receive. The mug that you’ll get will look exactly like the one above. (That little white speck is a reflection by the way!)
Click HERE to visit the store!
If you like the Project H.O.U.N.D design you can also buy it on a screen accurate t-shirt/hoodie from our Red Bubble store here!

A Study in Font
—————Typography on screen in BBC Sherlock
"SHERLOCK" Title font
This font is custom made for the show using P22 Johnston Underground as a base. (Download link below.) Here is a fantastic title font analysis by justonelasttrick that shows how the title font has been altered from the Underground font. (An extremely similar free font, London Tube is available to download here.)
221B Door lettering
The gold plated numbers and upper case B that appear on the door of 221B are Times NR Seven MT Bold. Our post on the lettering and door knocker can be found here.
£16 / $26 Available here at myfonts.com
All the text messages in the show utilise AF Generation Z font (Medium)
£28 / $46 Available here at myfonts.com
When Sherlock sees a clue, like with the pink lady’s wedding rings, the font that appears is P22 Johnston Underground which is also the base for the title font.
£12 / $20 Available here at myfonts.com
The sharp elegant font that appears on Irene’s website prints is ITC Elan Book
£16 / $26 Available here at myfonts.com
I AM SHERLOCKED
The font that appears on Irene’s Vertu phone lock screen is Verdana.
Verdana comes free with all modern computers.
The sophisticated gold lettering that appears on Sherlock’s headstone is engraved in Times New Roman, another free font that is included in the set of default computer fonts.
Keep Calm and Carry On font, (seen on a mug in The Fall). Download here (FREE)
And for anyone wondering, wearsherlock uses Gotham Bold for our logo/graphics.
The full Gotham suite can be downloaded here at typography.com

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH BAFTA 2012 FASHION RUN-DOWN
On the red white and blue carpet Benedict wore a bespoke Spencer Hart single breasted shawl lapel suit in Midnight Blue. His pocket square was a simple and classically styled white Marcella (finely ribbed). His dress shirt was a white Marcella collar.
Benedict’s tie was a skinny knitted silk style tied in a Half Windsor knot. His shoes were highly polished black Oxfords with balmoral lacing. Unfortunately we were unable to find any shots of Benedict’s watch or cuff links (if he wore any) but as soon as we do we’ll update.
Benedict usually wears Spencer Hart suits to red carpet events (he did so at the 2012 Oscars too) and coincidentally all of the suits he wears in Sherlock are tailored by Spencer Hart also. You can follow them on Twitter here. (They always let the Sherlock fandom know when they have Benedict in store!)
